AGen in scan and trim

Introduction

The Scan and Trim function on AGen software is a feature that allows the user to scan a barcode and then trim or remove certain parts of the scanned data. This will simplify the data extraction process as well as data input processing.

For example, the user may only want to capture a portion of the barcode data, such as a specific part of a product code or SKU. With the Scan and Trim function, the user will scan the whole barcode, and then use the AGen to select and trim the specific portion of the barcode data that they want to capture.

This feature can be particularly useful in situations where the barcode contains extraneous data that the user does not need, or if the user wants to capture a specific portion of the barcode data for further processing or analysis.

How do Scan and Trim work?

When using the Scan and Trim function, the user will capture the entire barcode data with mobile computer or mobile phone, AGen configurator will allow the user to select a specific portion of the data to keep or remove for the first time. This is done by using the AGen server to select and trim the desired portion of the data.

For example, if a barcode contains a product code that is followed by a batch number, expiration date, or other extraneous data that the user does not need, the Scan and Trim function allows the user to select and capture only the product code, and then discard the remaining data.

This can be useful in situations where the user needs to capture a specific piece of data from the barcode for further processing, such as inventory tracking or order fulfillment. By using the Scan and Trim function, the user can save time and reduce errors by eliminating the need to manually enter the data or process the entire barcode.

Enhancement after the scan and trim.

After the data capture into AGen database, certain ERP users may need the captured data to be display directly on their ERP software. To achieve this objective, the user PC will be required to enable the AGen Keyboard Emulator to do so. Users can also add additional prefixes and suffix to the collected data from AGen Keyboard Emulator program.
